Spring, Summer and Fall at The Brook

Biking

The CAMBA trail system in northern Wisconsin is premier system of off-road bike trails in the Midwest. Located in and around the beautiful Chequamegon National Forest region of Northwest Wisconsin, the entire 300 miles of CAMBA trails can be accessed from The BROOK.

The Brook private trail system links every home site to the CAMBA Mosquito Brook trailhead. From there you choose: the newest CAMBA trail, Makwa, described as “Twisting, climbing — super-flowy” or venture onto Plantation Trail and “tour a majestic red pine plantation over rolling two track and Birkie Trails.” those are only two of over 38 CAMBA trails that vary from “easy two tracks” to “hilly single track.”

Hiking

You don’t need to venture outside of The Brook’s own trail system to explore the beauty and wonder of the north woods. The trails weave through heavily wooded areas and open meadows. Wildlife is plentiful. It's not unusual to sight deer, bear, porcupine, bald eagles and a wide assortment of other forest animals. Wildflowers bloom from late May through the summer. From June through September, berry picking - wild strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries - can add a tasty diversion to your trek. The fall colors begin in late August and reach their splendid peak near the end of September and early October.

If a day hike is on your agenda, set out from The Brook and explore the CAMBA trails on foot. To keep your “ski legs” or just stay fit, include some Birkie “hill bounding” in your daily routine. Nature’s perfect “gym” is a healthy 2k bound from most any home site in The Brook.
